Lovgren Honored as Woman of Distinction Print E-mail

Linda Lovgren was recently interviewed by the Midlands Business Journal as part of its series on Greater Omaha area Women of Distinction.  The following are excerpts taken from that interview.

“Turning 30 years old this month is Linda Lovgren's company, Lovgren Marketing Group, a business that over the years found niches in public relations for event marketing and government affairs including advocacy and bond issues. "I've never regretted, and I've never looked back," Lovgren said.”

“High-visibility advocacy and marketing is not new to Lovgren. Her firm was involved with the Omaha Convention Center and Arena campaign - a long-term goal for Omaha that had not taken hold with the city's previous attempts. Helping bring the goal to fruition was the will of the business community and city officials like then-Mayor Hal Daub, Lovgren said. Under Ken Stinson's leadership the community raised millions of dollars in private funding, and the efforts promoting the bond issue helped it to win by a large margin, she said.”

“In 2003 Lovgren became the first female chairman for the Omaha Chamber of Com¬merce. About that time, the 0 Campaign launched to become a great consensus builder for Omaha, she said.

"The 0 embodies all of what Omaha is in tourist attractions, business and quality of life," Lovgren said.”

“Lovgren Marketing has expanded to serve multiple dimensions of marketing including public relations. The firm grew from two staff members to eight serving local, regional and national clients.”

“Her firm's recent public relations efforts include Air Force Week and last year's Luis Palau festival.”

"With new tools and other options for doing marketing, companies have to be very targeted in their approach to maximize dollars available to them," she said.

“Lovgren grew up on an Iowa farm where she learned about independence, making good judgments and having convictions; values she learned from her mother and father who not only ran the farm but also another business.”

"I have always looked at a lot of my re¬lationships and said, `What can I learn from the successes of others and from the people I like to be around?'

"I also think good advice to entrepreneurs is don't feel you have to do it all yourself. Surround yourself with good associates and outside counsel."
